Poo Boss: Who holds the bag?
By Ericka Basile

Who has to carry the bag after my dog has done the deed? Me or Bella?
With the Poo Boss my dog does. She wears the vest holding the bag in a side mesh pocket. They say dogs “need a job” and like to work. New job, Bella: Carry your own waste!
Going for a walk and carrying around the bag filled with dog poop is not fun for me.
I confess: I kind of like to walk past one certain neighbor who is the self-entitled “poop patrol police” on our street. In the past when I see her in her yard I make sure she sees my wildly swinging the poop bag in my hands – not because I really care what she thinks, but because I get a kick out of it. She has gone to the trouble of installing signs that read “Keep Your Dogs Off the Grass!” – and she bought security cameras to watch us all.
Life gets dull for the retired folks here in South Florida.
OK, I got off on a tangent. Where was I? Oh, yes, the Poo Boss. (Not loving the name, btw.)
The vest is high-quality. Bright colors and wide reflection strips make it a safety vest, as well. The multiple pockets enable my dog to carry her own bags, filled bag (in a wide mesh pocket), my house keys and even my cell phone. The Poo Boss sells for $29-$34, depending on size.
This phone pocket is important to me because one of my resolutions is to stop talking on my phone when I am out for a walk with my dog. I am becoming an iPhone-addict, and I need the 20 minutes of relaxing outside and smell-the-roses – not talking on my phone as I walk the dog.
Besides the skipping the gross factor in carrying the poop, now I do not have to smell the poop as we walk. No matter how hard I tied those little poop bags into a knot, the poop smell seeps out. There g
oes my “relax and smell the roses’”walk.
I’ll let you know if our neighbor poop police give me and Bella a polite nod from now on when we walk past her home.
Below are videos of the vest as I check out the details:

I have security cameras too, but primarily to know when the dogs want to be let back in, I can see it from my desk working. It is not fun to watch a security monitor, can’t imagine someone sitting all day watching to catch a trespasser. But, different strokes.

Erich, you don’t know the obsessive nature of South Florida retirees. :)

I’m not sure how pleasant it is for the dog to have to carry the poo, either. With their better sense of smell, seems to me it would be more offensive to them to have it so close. (Of course, that just applies to their own poo - other poos for some reason need to be rolled in or eaten…)

Mikken,
You are so right. To a dog other dog’s poo is always amazing.
Maybe I can work on a system so my dog’s carry each others poo.
;) ha ha

Love these vests! Bought one in the winter for evening jogs mainly for the reflective strips due to almost being run over a few times while crossing at intersections. Had to employ the poo-pocket a few times until we reached the next trash can — jogging while holding a poo bag can be pretty bad with it all flapping around and threatening to bust open (and Mikey didn’t seem to mind it in the pocket). Honestly, it being in the pocket is a lot better than the threat of busting open! Here’s a picture of our guy in the vest, and the cat trying it on too: http://dogthusiast.com/2010/05.....lity-vest/
