Molly Mutt says stuff it for a happier dog

Your dog would like to sleep on clothes that smell like you, right? Mine do.

No matter how many beds I buy my dogs, they gravitate towards the pile of week-old clothes on the floor waiting to go in the laundry.  Yep. That is my dog’s dream bed. Smelly human clothes. Sniff, mmm, flop, stretch.

Molly Mutt knows dogs. And the company embraces the mantra “recycle, reuse, refashion.”

Molly Mutt said about their dog duvet, “The Molly Mutt dog duvet means you never have to throw away a dog bed again. Simply slip off the dirty duvet and slip on a fresh, clean one. no more scheduling “laundry day” around cleaning up after Fido!” This is actually their second appearance in the blog, since Gina noticed them at Global Pet Expo earlier this year and mentioned them in a round-up of entrepreneurs at the massive pet-industry trade show.

Before you watch this adorable video of my son, Nico, who is very comfortable in front of the camera because he’s a video star for his blog theipadkids.com {unbiased plug}, well … remember what it was like to be nine years old and not know how to pronounce duvet, OK? Cut him some slack, please. ;)

So, the end result of my Molly Mutt product review is that Roxy, our fabulous Chihuahua, likes Molly Mutt’s bed. She really does. What? Oh,  I see your point:: Yeah, she looks a bit wary in this video. But, she’s just sick of me, it wasn’t the bed. The video shows my fourth attempt to get her on the bed with her ears perked up.  I am a bit of a dog stage mom and she was getting tired of me and the video camera, y’know?

Well, good thing I donated one of the beds to Lauren Mack, a volunteer with the Brody Project. Her dogs obviously have better photo skills than Roxi. (Seen in photo from L-R are: Moe, Reese, Maddie, Bernie & Buddy)

(P.S. Our own Dr. Marty Becker has been invited to be the keynote speaker for the Brody Project. The program, located in in South West Florida, offers Animal Assisted Therapy to senior homes. Details when we have them.)

Molly Mutt describes their products, which range from $50-$95:

Use the Molly Mutt dog duvet to recover your old dog bed, or stuff a new one with blankets & clothes from around your house. durable, washable, and pre-shrunk, molly mutt duvets are 100% cotton, fully-zippered and gusseted for extra style and comfort. The stuff sack for the inside: Organizes the inside of your duvet cover making it easy to use old blankets, pillows, clothing – keeping stuff out of landfills. Stuff sack and all of its contents directly into the washer when its time to clean the inside of your dog bed. It is 100% nylon, fully-zippered and gusseted.

So, Molly Mutt has made a good impression. Their tagline –  “recycle, reuse, refashion’” –  is great. Roxi, my dog, wanted to add “relax” because that is what she is doing now, since she knows I am finally done videotaping everyone.

Relax, Roxi. Sweet doggie dreams.

  1. Tell Nico that if people ask, he should tell them that a duvet is two animal doctors. (I crack myself up)

(Hey … you made me laugh! But then, what sort of a goofus-assed word is “duvet” anyway, right, Nico?)
