Life is not too shabby for some dogs

There’s a lot of frou-frou stuff out there in the dog world to buy.
I’m not going to pretend the products I am going to share with you are for serious, eco-friendly, or utilitarian dog owners. So save the outrage. I know they’re not really necessary, but so is a lot of what we buy.
The Shabby Dog products are for the ooo-la-la crowd.
I partake in this crowd’s pleasure. Yes, I try to justify my fetish in many ways: I rescue more animals than anyone I know (24 in house right now, including turtles, rabbits, and of course dogs and cats), and I donate loads of my time and money to local shelters and rescue organizations. OK, but peeking out from all this justification is the simple fact that I like designer doggie stuff. Yep. I am proud of it.
.
.
The pink faux alligator purse (portable dog bowl) with the secret doggie bowls inside is adorable. The black piping and accents top it off as a must-have when I lunch with my friends at a dog-friendly bistro. Little Roxi, my rescue Chihuahua, drinks out of the bowl, not so demurely. People who pass our table and ooh and ahh, “How cute! Clever idea!”
The waiter brings more water to Roxi’s friends, and they, too, share the experience of drinking out of a pink and black “purse” bowl.
I wipe the bowls clean with fine linen napkins and close the purse with a snap. Then, I pick up Roxi to walk to the car (she can’t walk here because the black asphalt is too hot in the summer in Naples) and away we go back to our home.
The eight cats and two dogs pets waiting for us at home ask Roxi about her “girls’ lunch.” She shares all the news by letting them sniff her.
The 8”x 6” portable dog bowl ($95) also comes in chocolate brown and yellow.
Note: The Shabby Dog products were donated to Humane Society Naples for their annual Tea and Fashion show fund-raiser this fall. The purse bowl will be auctioned off to raise money for the care of shelter animals. Possibly the funds will aid a long lost relative of Roxi’s? You never know.
In the video below you will see the cute animal-theme wrapped decal van the Humane Society brings when they pick up all the product review donations I make on behalf of Petconnection.com. (shown in video is the Whisker Studio’s Sky Climber donation)

Love it! And I especially like the idea of a tea and fashion show fund-raiser. Maybe something for the Darcy Fund to do sometime…
