Happy Fourth of July!

July 4, 2010

Remember to keep your pets in, use crates, dark rooms and music or white noise to take the edge off the fireworks and give them a sedative if they need it. Benadryl is great in a pinch for dogs, but it’s not for cats.

Oh, and since this is one of the busiest days of the year at veterinary ERs, it’s important to know before you need to: Do you know who to call and where to go if you need to? If not, take a minute and check.

We’ll be back Tuesday … unless we need to cover something, of course.

Picture is of Ghillie, owned by Terry Fowler of Minnesota. Picture by Terry, as well.

  2. One of my all-time favs. I used to keep a paper print-out of this one in my cubicle at the old day job. :)

  3. My kitties are very well adjusted to noises. We had pre-fireworks, firecrackers, and cherry bombs last night…and they never flinched!

  4. Thanks for using Ghillie’s photo on your page, makes me a proud mom. I love this photo too. One of those moments where everything just “clicked” - pun intended. :)

  5. We had a spectacular fireworks show nearby, which gave us a “ringside” seat from our balcony doors! Mandy, my kitty, even sat with me a watched them for a while! She really seemed to enjoy it.

  6. I have always loved this photo of the Ghillieweed. As a matter of fact I recognized this photo on a flyer at the vet here. Someone must have liked it enough to steal the photo without permission from Terry. I can’t wait to run into the person that left the flyers to let him know that his “national” company is using a photo not granted permission to use. Sorry, not the subject but had to take my soapbox out as stealing photos infuriates me.
