Golden moments: How can you not love ‘em?

The golden retriever drill team, hat tip to Land of Pure Gold:
.
.
When I was at in the UK for Crufts a few years back, one of my friends in flat-coated retrievers took me to visit some friends of her who bred some lovely, healthy goldens. At the time I was really thinking of having both flat-coats and goldens, but it just hasn’t worked out, at least not yet. (I also fell totally in love with the Large Munsterlander, which is a German upland hunting dog, not a cheese!) What can I say? I’m a sucker for a hunting dog who can’t keep his mouth empty, his fur dry and his tail from wagging.

That’s me with the puppy I tried to put in my backpack, but they were onto me and counted all the puppers before I left.
The other picture is some of the adults they had, four generations in all from that puppy to a 14-year-old. Yes, they’re big cream-head teddy-bear goldens, not the field-bred kind. I don’t care. I hugged the stuffing out of them and got enough kisses to last for years.
As for those Munsterlanders … I spent a huge amount of time with the dogs and the owners. But what I really liked about the LMs can be summed up in this picture for me:

.
Yeah. That darling little girl is in the ring with her family’s own dog. How sweet it that?

I am glad I know about your propensity to steal creamheads just in case we meet again. LOL I love that video. The golden wandering off would have been Cedar.

Henry can come live with his Auntie Gina any time. :)

There was one waiting outside the post office yesterday, sweet as could be, waiting patiently for Mum to return. I almost unhooked him from the post and casually walked off with him.

Great video … and Jill, Cedar wouldn’t have been just wandering off, with all those people he would have been at a full tilt run!!

We have gone to Crufts the past few years and I love that Exhibition team they are just wonderful… and its neat to see all the pups… I have often thought how fun it would be to organize something like that around here…. Oh and Gina… anytime you want a cream head… just let me know.

I’m on the drill team with my dog club. I know what hard work it is, so Kudos to these guys for being at Crufts. (Scary!) The crazy thing is, as you who have dogs know, you can train and drill and do a 300 clean routines, but you never really KNOW what the dogs are going to do (or your feet for that matter).
At the pet expo in Oaks, PA this year my boy Kasey breezed through all 3 Saturday performances, but on Sunday he wouldn’t complete a stay once. He didn’t run away, just decided he would rather come walk beside me. But the audience thought that was cute too. :O) But of course, the only video we got of those performances was on Sunday!
It’s a lot of fun, no matter what!

I’ve never gotten to meet an LM, but I’ve always been intrigued by them! As for Goldens, I believe there will always be one to go with an FCR around here. Not only do they look REALLY cute together, but I can’t choose just one breed! I’ve had black dogs, I’ve had gold dogs, and I’ve had absolutely best buddies from pairing the two. My idea of perfection.

Stephanie, I am NOT adding to the numbers here until I can do so legally and have room for them all (plus goats! plus horses!) to stretch out and run run run. And swim, swim, swim, since a pond is a must. (Screw “granite counters.” I want a barn, safe and secure cross-fencing and a pond!)
When I am on real, honest-to-doG acreage, we will talk. But not a minute sooner.

I just saw this post. I did not know you had a secret *Golden* love. That’s too funny since I also refer to Flat Coats as Black Goldens. They just have that sweet retriever face that pulls me in every time.
My first Goldens were the American conformation type, but my current guy Alfie ( http://alfie.landofpuregold.com ) is one of those English cremes that you are loving on. My guy actually turned 11 today and still looks like a puppy. http://wp.me/p27Fz-2QX
I know that Dr. Marty was a Lab man through and through and only took the Golden plunge after discovering my site and my celebration of all things Golden. But, I never see Golden Shakira these days as he has been taken over by the little kids at home, especially his Pug grandchildren.
