Cats give a reality check on product review plans

There is this thing about cats: you can’t win. I buy them toys galore. I have given them pen laser light shows, boing-y sticks with feathers at the end, stuffed mice toys that smell like catnip.
But you know what?
Cats, like toddlers, often find the greatest pleasure in things we didn’t expect.
I was driving around town this week searching cat toys at local Big Box stores as well as pet boutiques. I’ve just come back from Global Pet Expo last month with a suitcase full of product brochures from pet manufacturers. I’ve gone online and researched the newest, hottest stuff to keep cats entertained. Now, I wait for the boxes to arrive so the product testing may begin.
My cats beat me to the punch. While I am organizing my life as Product Review Manager with Pet Connection (yes, a dream come true — thank you Gina!), I had to chuckle at my cat’s perspective.
My cats should be elated, with bated breath, waiting at the window for the UPS guy.
Ha. We cat lovers know better, right?
What does it take to make a cat happy?
An empty box. Scraps of paper. Tin foil balled up.
Georgia (black kitten) and Vanilla (chubby Siamese mix) tell it like it is in the video below t. .
I’m on a mission to find and share really neat cat stuff with you. Let’s see if in the near future I can find products to compete with an empty box. Geez, tough crowd, these cats.

I loved your blog, my son is 20 years old and when he was small we also had a great cat. My fondest memories is of Christmas day and the aftermath of empty toy boxes amongst the wrapping paper and bows, that is when the show began. The toys ended up in the corners of the room and boy and cat put on the most hilarious show imaginable in the mist of said mess. I can’t remember any of the gifts but I sure can vividly remember the boxes. When I started my I invented my pet recovery product known as PetVoice I fashioned my company after the joy I received from having pets in my life…….thanks for the memories……Paul

I’m sure these nice folks could do it.
By the way, the test product is on my dining room table. Well, the BOX is. FayBee grabbed the empty water bottle and McKutie got the tennis ball before I could even get it unpacked. Yes, it lasted less than a minute … but I’ll still set it up when I get a chance.

I loved your article! So true about cats liking all the stuff we didn’t expect them to! I’ve found that rotating my cat’s toys helps keep them “fresh” for him. especially since I store the toys not being used at the moment in a sealed container with a good bit of fresh catnip! Maybe I’ll try giving him the container next time! LOL! Thanks for a fun article.
