On Run with your dog, just walk....Walking is still the best and safest form of exercise for our beloved dog buddies. If your dog is not the athletic type, do not attempt to run with him because it can only cause him to tire too much. Frequent walks are still highly recommended.

On low-calorie pet food: I've successfully trimmed down my Frenchie with a home-made raw diet, but when feeding dry I noticed the enormous range in calories from one pet food to another - and I'm talking about premium, solid quality kibbles. A cup of one brand can be twice as many calories as a cup of another, and both formulas described as "regular," not reduced-calorie, or performance, or puppy. I'm not a vet, obviously, but I am willing to go a long way before I start feeding my dog sawdust. There are other, better ways to give a hungry dog a break.

I'm liking these multi-information posts.
Thanks David!

The cat vs. bear video was astounding! And one on how to gift wrap a cat that cracked me up.

Now I'm off to read the longer article....

(slightly OT but..) I met Dr Freeman in September of 2007 when she spoke at a forum in RI that addressed the pet food recall--She was a speaker with my internal med vet as well as an ex Tyson "recall" employee who then was a vet resident..I wrote about that meeting here... http://itchmoforums.com/making-a-difference/pet-food-recall-forum-in-ri-t1988.0.html;msg26350#msg26350
I was sadly disappointed at the turnout---less than a dozen people with some not even aware of a problem earlier in the year..Dr Freeman was asked what she fed her pets and she said she didn't want to appear to promote one brand over another but that she fed commercial--and that most of her pets were rescued from Tufts so they had significant health issues and needed prescription diets..
