Do you like this story?
And now for something completely PUPPY!

January 13, 2010
Just sneaking in among all the heavy news with a puppy report!
I had a great conversation with my future puppy’s breeder yesterday, and it’s looking pretty definite that I’m going to be a new puppy mom soon. I’m so excited!
This photo is of the first puppy to venture towards his mom’s food bowl — if he’s a foodie, someone ought to tell him how good the chow is at my house. Sustainably raised, organic, fresh and local.
Whichever puppy turns out to be mine, his name will beĀ Farallon, after the islands off the coast of San Francisco.
By the way, that’s his mama’s nose, which is bigger than he is at 12 days old.

So you are getting a boy then Christie ?
OOHH & congratulations.
Comment by Alison — January 13, 2010 @ 1:37 pm
I think it’s probably going to be a boy, as there’s only one girl in the litter. But time will tell.
I figure “Farallon” is a good name either way!

Oh congrats Christie! I think after the hard year you have had, this will be just the thing to bring some laughter and joy to you. I cant wait to read about new puppy stories….tearing holes in the couch, shredding your wallet with dollar bills in it…etc. Its part of the fun memories you will cherish (even though at the time it may not be so cute). (-:

I love that name, too! Such good news. I’m happy for you.

It’s a great name and means “Birds Rock.”

Cool! Nothing like a puppy to bring a little sunshine into the house. This is my 9 week old baby.

We think his name is going to be Mocha.

I just knew the breeder would give you pup!
Farallon is a great name. You can get one or more nicknames from that name, whether it is a he or a she.
I can feel the excitement building in your writing of the post. I am almost jealous, but I don’t have any more energy for another pet, much less a young-un.
Happy for you!

Love the name ! Congratulations,I would love a baby but don’t think I have the patience or energy anymore for them. 2 or 4 legged. Mocha is adorable too !

New here, are you, Nicky?
Comment by Christie Keith — January 13, 2010 @ 6:42 pm
Nicky, your idiotic comments are the funniest thing I’ve read all day. Do you ever *think* before you hit the “comment” button?
Comment by Susan Fox — January 13, 2010 @ 7:13 pm
Awww! He’s so tiny and cute! I love the name you picked out. I’ve been waiting to hear about the pups. I think I may have missed a post. How many pups are there? Did delivery go smoothly? When did they arrive?
Congrats on the new baby!

Christie, I am sooo glad that you are getting a puppy! I agree with everyone else, too, that the name is a winner!
Comment by Susan Fox — January 13, 2010 @ 7:18 pm
Sorry, folks, had to delete Nicki… who wasn’t actually anyone named Nicki. Trust me, LOL.
I now return you to our regularly scheduled episode of “PUPPY BREATH!”

Other Lori, there were 5 pups, born on Gina’s birthday, New Year’s Eve! One girl, 4 boys. :D

Can’t wait for breathless reports, pictures, more reports, more pictures, and still more pictures. There’s nothing quite as wonderful as a new puppy!
Comment by David S. Greene — January 13, 2010 @ 7:27 pm
I love puppies. A gift from heaven.
Comment by sandrafx — January 13, 2010 @ 7:38 pm
Are you going to add a new puppy scent function to the blog?
Comment by Susan Fox — January 13, 2010 @ 8:31 pm
Hmmm, Susan, now THAT would be a killer app!
Comment by Christie Keith — January 13, 2010 @ 8:42 pm
Such good news…I can hear the excitement in your voice (I mean… read it in your words)! Ahhhh puppy breath…soon…
Comment by Carol V — January 13, 2010 @ 8:44 pm
Thanks for the update! What a great birthday! I can’t wait for more puppy updates.

Awww - Christie, based on the feedback I was anxious to read Nicky’s posts. Always ripe for a little mano a mano! I can only imagine.
Cute name and best of luck - puppies are such a delight.
But, hey - what’s with the pic? It seems to be a closeup of an aardvark wearing Ugg boots, sipping a pina colada at Trader Joe’s or something…?
My wife and I would be interested in your food source - we are looking for something local and a little greener than what the big companies can provide - can you point me?
Thanks and congrats!
Comment by Dr. Tony Johnson — January 14, 2010 @ 6:26 am
Ahem, Tony. It’s “drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic’s”. C’mon, dude. I wouldn’t want to rile up Mr. Zevon’s ghost.
Comment by David S. Greene — January 14, 2010 @ 6:31 am
Christie, you virtually destroyed Nicki!
She deserved it, though.
Comment by Evelyn — January 14, 2010 @ 1:51 pm
David - color me embarrassed! Surely, if we can make Nicki disappear so effectively we can retrofit out my hideous gaffe!
Meep.
Vet sad.
Comment by Dr. Tony Johnson — January 15, 2010 @ 10:26 am
Oh, Congratulations. Ditto what everyone else says on the Name. I hope you have many great adventures together and a long and happy relationship.
