Good grief, Gina. I didn't know you are a racing fan. My day job is at Daily Racing Form, where I'm the bloodstock business writer. Love, love, love Zenyatta. And how 'bout that Street Cry: sire of Zenyatta AND Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, all in the same week.

Yes, I'm glad I'm not the one who has to tell her she won't be parading around in front of a crowd of tens of thousands. It is really hard for those who love their job to learn the ring isn't theirs any more. I have a working dog of almost 13 who has issues with retirement. Today he stole a ziploc bag off the kitchen counter, ate the contents and then proceeded to shred the bag for good measure. I was ready to blame the puppy but he was outside with me when the deed was done. :D

She's so hard-wired for this, all problems in the horse racing world aside, it would be cruel not to let her run. She's going to be a handful in retirement, I'll bet.
