I have to take issue with one of the things Dr. Marty said. He wanted a separate dedicated utility sink for washing your pet’s dishes and so forth.
Well, remember when Christie read the riot act to a roomfull of veterinarians who didn’t think you could safely feed raw food to your animals but had completely overlooked the fact that people preparing to cook raw chicken for their OWN dinners were doing so safely for the most part as long as they observed careful hygiene, washed contaminated surfaces promptly, etc.? How is this different?
I prepare my pet’s raw food in my kitchen sink. I do use a different scrubber which is labelled and stored in a different spot from my other scrubbers. And I wipe down (with soapy water) my sink after washing pet food dishes in it.
I think Dr. Becker was (albeit unintentionally) falling into that same overcautious “pets are hazardous to have around” subtext that makes some people afraid to have pets in their homes.

I was wondering why, when it’s common knowledge that ” a number of stores in the area” are selling turtles illegally, according to the interviewer (and Dr. Marty agrees), that neither of them even mentioned in passing that maybe it would be a good thing if health departments did some actual cracking down on the supply end…?
