We’re not going to be around much this weekend: The personal is just a little overwhelming right now.

You know my situation.

Here’s Christie’s situation.

And the rest of our gang is a bit overwhelmed with a lot of things as well.

We’ll see you back here on Monday.

In the meantime … below is a picture my friend Bob sent me of him with McKenzie and Woody (and friend Little Girl) on the river trails.

The good times pass too quickly. Enjoy them while you can.

  2. Gina, I am so sorry to hear about your Heather. It is a horrible disease that takes our treasured 2 and 4-footed friends and family and leaves so much pain for all the survivors.

It sounds like you are providing great hospice care for your sweetie, something that is being done more and more of these days for our furkids ( http://cancer.landofpuregold.com/hospice.htm )

  5. Rochelle!

Thank you SO MUCH for that link. Veterinary hospice care is not always accepted well, but I have friends and family who are supporting me, Dr. Marty and my own vet. Dr. Bill, is supporting me. And all the folks here, too!

Most of all, Heather is supporting me. :)

  6. Anticipatory grief is sometimes the worst. I lost both my Leonbergers to bone cancer in a year. One, the heart dog of my life, was only six…

The act of love involved in deciding just when to let someone you love *that much* go is a horrificly difficult thing to have to do. My heart goes out to you.

  7. Heather just ate a good amount of her favorite foods, which she barked at me for because dinner was “late,” according to her. Today … a good day. Tomorrow … we’ll hope for the best!

  8. May the spirits treat you and Christie kindly in this very difficult period.

We will wait until you are ready to post again.
Lots of comforting hugs to both of you.

  9. Gina and Christie,

Prayers and hugs for you and your family from here in Kentucky. As someone wisely said, “Grief is the price we pay for love,” and that love is worth it, even with that grief.

Praying you all have many more good days together.
