Old photos are history; maybe not 'world' history but definitely 'our' history. I love it.

For one of my early books, the publisher asked for an author photo. I tried to get out of sending one because I hate having my photo taken - I'm the photographer - not the one in front of the photographer. But the publisher kept bugging me. So I sent in a photo of me at about 18 months of age with our dog Butch, a GSD. I captioned it, "The dog who started it all." They used it on the book cover! I loved it.

oh I'd love to hear what your dad meant by "little bulldog", because it certainly wasn't the "english bulldog" of today. "Bulldog" was often the nickname for the dog we call "American pit bull terrier"

I put a picture of my mom in "Dogs For Dummies." The first edition ... I'm not sure it's in the second. In the picture she's 3 years old, with the family's terrier-poodle mix. So cute!

They say that taking a dog for a walk is like us reading a newspaper. They can tell everything that has happened and who has been around. They have a wonderful "sniffer" and they enjoy every opportunity they have to get out and smell the world!
