Every dog has his day, and it’s tomorrow

National Dog Day is Wednesday. I did find it on one of my many calendars, but really, it’s just one of those made-up things to draw attention to something.
Do dogs need a day? Although many dogs live horrible lives and suffer, seems like every day is Dog Day around here. In fact, my husband and I have often said that if we could figure out how to make it happen, we want to be reincarnated as dogs belonging to us.
Our dogs have to work for us, but not that much, and they seem to enjoy working. Or at least they enjoy making us happy. Our dogs have rules to follow but again, I think the structure those rules apply is good for all of us. Following the rules makes the humans happy and when the humans are happy, the dogs are happy. At least in our household.
Our dogs eat the best foods possible and go to a wonderful veterinarian when ever that care is needed. They get bathed (OK, that’s a negative for Bashir), brushed, and checked for pests. Play times, walks, exercise, training sessions, and rides in the car all happen on a regular basis. And then our dogs grow old with us, loved and treasured.
Yes, every day in our household is a ‘dog day!’
But to celebrate National Dog Day, Kindred Spirits Dog Training is going to have a party. After all, our unofficial theme is “any excuse for a party!” We’re going to have dog treats and people treats, we’re going to play some games, and we’re going to celebrate having dogs in our lives!
We’re also going to enjoy each others’ company because making friends with other people who have dogs is one of the huge benefits of having dogs. Some of the best friends I’ve made have been dog people!
So celebrate National Dog Day, love your dogs, and enjoy your friends. Sounds good to me!
