Yes, it is! :P

I wonder if I could find all the bits on craigslist.... (I'm just scared to use a power saw for fear of cutting off my feet or somehting. I can manage nailing bits together. Or glue. Glue would be good.)

Ouch, indeed, which is why my chickens live in a plastic garden shed I bought on sale for $125. :)

But I still think the Ikea hack is darn good-lookin'.

$600? OUCH. I've spent $65 + a case of Corona for mine, built by the neighbor, plus I promised to share eggs since all their girls are MEAN and broody gamehens.

Admittedly, the materials are still sitting under the carport, but it'll get done eventually. :P

Actually, if you could bring it in for under $600 ($400 parts plus labor), you'd be paying less than a lot of the cutesy coops you can buy.

Have informed the hubby that late winter/early spring we will be building the following:

a chicken coop and large covered run
my raised vegetable beds

I am making it a family project. Heaven help us!

My mantra every time I go into the local feed store... "I will NOT buy chicks, I will NOT buy chicks!"
