Puppy love: Mothering can really be a bitch

Ow! Ow! Ow! Poor McKenzie. Those little puppy teeth are sharp!
MyMcKenzie’s six puppies are five weeks old tomorrow. They’re pretty much weaned onto gruel (HK’s Embark and Perfect Form, plus probiotics and a variety of canned meat, fish, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and yogurt), but they’re still very happy indeed when McMommy opens the milk bar. She’s generous and patient with them, and will even play games with them now.
They’re at a great age. I take them out of the puppy pen and they explore everywhere. They run, they play, they snuggle. They crawl under and over furniture, through tubes and play with toys. They mess … oh, do they mess!
When I call them, they all come running to me, which is about as cute as it gets.
Every day they are introduced to something new. Today, a slew of new people will come over to socialize them.
Soon, they’ll be scattered to loving homes that are anxiously awaiting them. One will stay here, most likely. The others I miss already. I wish they could just stay as they are today for a little while longer.
Update: Afternoon socializing with my niece and nephew:

Hehehe… I was going to ask earlier what they were eating, but I know it’s such a HOT topic these days I wasn’t sure you’d want to touch on it. ;O)
LOVE the pics, LOVE the diet, LOVE the puppy parties and above all, LOVE THE MOMMA!
Happy Momma’s day to McKenzie, and happy Momma’s day to you, too, Gina!
Me and the hubby are on our way to the in-laws for dinner, dogs in tow. My MIL has taken to calling my girls “the granddogs.” I think it’s her way of accepting our “alternative lifestyle.” (no kids, just furkids… lol)
Make sure Kenzie gets somethin’ extra special today! :O)

My in-laws are the same way too, and they spoil their ‘granddog’ terribly. =)
Puppies all grow up so fast!

The hardwoods in my living room have never been more clean … or more dirty … or more clean … and so on … alternating several times a day.
Just through another puppy play, eat, pee/poop cycle. They’re asleep in their pen. I just finished mopping. Again. :)

“Most female dogs decide by the time their pups are weaned that the whole thing was a terrible mistake, the worst idea they every had.” Roger Caras.
Happy Mother’s Day, McCutie!

Woof!
Tell McKenzie I know EXACTLY how she feels!
my kids were on a bottle within a few months of those first teeth.
Just returned from taking mom and mom-in-law out.
Survived that, at a nice restaurant with the three boys, 2, 5, and 10
My Mothers Day gift from the hubby is that I’m getting to hide while he does dinner!

Have they started carrying things in their mouths yet?

Oh heck yeah. Everything from toys to 12-inch diameter cardboard concrete form tubes, which they drag across the floor and then go through. Mouthy little buggers, and I’m helping them to understand what they CANNOT put in their mouths (mostly, my toes).

Ha, ha, I got into the habit of wearing socks when I had one cat who would love to see my naked toes so she could bite them.
