Sheet to cover the hotel sofa. Check.
Frozen and freeze-dried dog food. Check.
Laptop and all accessories. Check.
Electric kettle to boil water for tea. Argh, not here, quickly drive back to house late at night.
Our condo building is being termite-tented today, so we’ve spent the past couple of weeks eating only what’s in the refrigerator or pantry so we could get rid of it, packing up everything that couldn’t be eaten or drunk in that time and storing it with friends, and bathing the dogs so they’d be hotel-presentable. In my spare time, I reviewed Bags on Board for DogCars.com
Jerry flew off to Boston Sunday (how conveeeeenient), so I had the task of loading up the car with everything I couldn’t live without for three days or didn’t want to subject to poison gas being piped into my home (yes, I’m paranoid, what about it?), taking Larry Bird to the vet for boarding (easier than I thought it would be to get him into that Kennel Cab), and then loading up the dogs and all of our combined paraphernalia and moving into a second-floor hotel room (no elevator, of course). Lift heavy stuff. Climb stairs. Run back down stairs to car. Repeat. Great workout! And I would have slept well except Twyla had diarrhea and needed to go out at 2:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. A 6:30 a.m. phone call from a source on the East Coast got me out of bed for good.
So this morning I dropped Twyla off at the vet for another bath–I’ve tried bathing dogs in hotel bathtubs before and prefer not to repeat the experience–dropped Bella and Harper off at my friend Tamela’s so I could do some grocery shopping for the kitchenette, and then was lucky enough to have Twyla ready to be picked up before I went back to the hotel so I didn’t have to make an extra trip. I don’t think the car has been driven this much in weeks.
Now that I’ve blown the morning, I’d better get some work done.

Ok, I need a nap after just reading that.

Kim, there is something about the combination of your dogs, hotel rooms, and subsequent diarrhea that is pretty disconcerting.
And how utterly conveeeeenient of Jerry. Wise move on his part.

All in all, though, I like hotel living. Someone comes in and cleans up, and there are no distractions (the excessive errand running this morning was an aberration).

Isn’t it just a-mazing how often men are conveeeeeenietly unavailable when another warm body could be of assistance.

Well, it was for work, so it’s not like he could have turned it down. And of course he is suffering the weather there. But it’s still fun to tweak him…
