Winners write for and comment at PetConnection

I’m having a friend over for dinner tonight to drown my sorrows because I’m not in New York, but I wanted to take a minute to post this before she gets here:
I’ve just received a Maxwell winner report from regular commenter Susan McCullough who called me from the Dog Writers Association of American banquet. Susan won two Maxwells for her articles “You Don’t Know Shih Tzu,” written for the Shih Tzu issue of Popular Dogs–”I didn’t write that headline,” she notes–and “In the Swim,” written for AKC’s Family Dog magazine. Susan was also elected vice president of DWAA this morning, along with new prez Deb Eldredge, DVM, and new secretary Liz Palika.
Pet Connection’s own Christie Keith won a Maxwell for her PetConnection post “It’s the DNA, Stupid.” Tell it, girl!
And (preens happily) I won a Maxwell for my Creature Comforts column, plus the WCFO special award for a Dog World article I wrote on freestyle. Woohoo! The WCFO award comes with a few bucks, which will go to the Darcy Fund.
I’m sorry I don’t have any more details, but I gotta go do the asparagus and get the appetizers in the oven.
[Update from Christie:] Our own Phyllis DeGioia won a Maxwell in the humor category, too! The Pet Connection trifecta! Congratulations to my blogmates on a job well done.

Congratulations!

Congratulations, Kim! And thanks for posting this!
And congratulations to Susan as well, and to the new leadership of DWAA… change we can believe in. ;)

Whoa …. Christie! I didn’t even know you entered. :)
Congrats to all, and to the new leadership of the Dog Writers Association of America. A change is gonna come … and long overdue.
Now I can re-join the group. :)

I am very, very sorry that I neglected to tell Kim about Phyllis’s win when I spoke with her last night. By then I was pretty spazzed, as Kim would tell you herself if she weren’t so nice. But I read Phyllis’s piece a couple of weeks ago and — as Christie would say — I shoulda had a care for my keyboared.

Congratulations, Phyllis! Just call us the PetConnection trifecta.

bwahahahahahahaha! A Pet Connection trifecta.
Love it.
The depth of Christie’s pieces always amaze me. I’m really glad she won!

Phyllis … can you post your humor piece for the folks to enjoy? Would you mind?
