The thing I really did like about the ad was that Pedigree didn't lead you by the nose as to where to get a dog. If you are a TV watcher, you would know from their other ads what they advocate. They assumed a modicum of intelligence on the part of their viewers.
Will the ad prompt me to give up Bravo! for Pedigree? Do I need to answer that?

Number of bloggers feeling all warm and fuzzy as a result of the Pedigree ad? Apparently quite a lot.

Number of those bloggers who will switch to Pedigree as a result of the ad? Zero, in my estimation

Number of pet adoptions as a result of the Pedigree ad? completely unknowable.

Number of s/n that could be accomplished with a donation of $3 million?... you do the math.

I recall over a year ago, Pedigree advertised that they were no longer contributing to shelters. Has the Policy changed back to donating??

I loved the adds with the Clydsdales. tops

I just read someone talking about this ad & all that registered was that it was a funny dog food ad - they didn't get the adoption thing at all.

It's cute but disappointing. I think even if you paid attention, all you get is the 'get a dog' part, not from where. And with byb's pet stores now using the word 'adoption' for their sales, well....it's just too bad.

Superbowl ads are always the highest priced ads, and they definitely get seen! I think this is a brilliant use of air time.

I was thinking they were going to go along the lines of choosing the *right* dog when I first saw it, but this works for me.

Advertising and marketing are an essential part of any sales campaign.

Would you say a thing if they spent that money on a straight "buy our pet food" ad? I'm guessing you wouldn't even notice it between all the beer ads. And wouldn't think a thing about it either way if you did.

Super Bowl ads cost because they deliver ... eyeballs and BUZZ.

What better use of $3 million: Selling more beer or placing more pets?

It IS a great ad. Pedigree has done some wonderful pro-adoption ads and they deserve credit.

But... $3 million dollars???? (which I understand is what it cost to run).
