Oh, Sock Puppet, how much I miss you still!

December 1, 2008

Hat tip to Terrierman for this, which I ripped off as quickly as my fingers could type in the code.

Background: I was a Pets.com contributing editor. They paid me an incredible amount of money to write for their Web site and their magazine, so much that I was able to work 10 easy hours a week and live in a beach house in North Florida for six months. The folks at Pets.com were among the nicest people and best editors for whom I’ve ever written, very talented folks I’d work for again in a heartbeat. They sent me on assignment to Westminster, and plied me with free drinks and gourmet dinners in San Francisco and in New York.

They gave me sock puppets — five of them! — and stock from their IPO. I still have the sock puppets.

Life was good.

I can laugh about it now. Really, I can. Honest.

  5. I loved sock puppet and thought he was very cute. I always wondered where he (and they)went.
