Toyota puts pups as a priority with new Venza crossover
By Keith Turner
October 13, 2008
A new crossover being introduced by Toyota this fall has ears turning and tails wagging because among its many features are several that are particularly dog-friendly.
According to a Toyota press release, the sleek-looking 2009 Venza (check out the cool computer animation) will include “more than a dozen” dog-related optional items that are designed to make life easier and safer for our four-legged friends.
Dogs and even cats can look forward to more than a dozen Venza-friendly creature
comforts, the most ever available through Toyota dealers. Venza’s large cargo capacity
and rear hatch allow for easy entrance and loading of pets. Available products include:
- a rear hatch pet ramp for easy loading and unloading,
- a leash tether for securing pets in the vehicle,
- a pet booster seat with harness,
- a first/second row or cargo area pet barrier,
- pet seatbelt buckles
- rear seat zip line-style harnesses.
Waterproof and removable hammock-style seat covers are also available to fit Venza’s bench and bucket seats.
While pricing for these pup-friendly features have yet to be announced, Toyota promises that it is aiming for paws-up reviews from the canine crew.
These new pet products may be one of Toyota’s best fits yet for owner and pet alike, but Venza retrievers and terriers will be the ultimate judges
It looks like Toyota is taking a cue from Honda and Volvo by focusing some more attention on the needs of the pet-loving public.
Viva la Venza!

Can I just say that it’s so great this web site exists!
There are so many areas of life we have fine-tuned down to a tee, to avoid discomfort, redundance, and risk. Yet our furry family members always seem to be relegated to a category of irrelevance or worse, the domain of adults with way too much free time and questionable sanity. And while it’s hard to defend oneself from such accusations, I prefer to place myself squarely in the camp of hardworking, reasonably competent individuals who are proud to include all life forms (human and otherwise) in our circle of compassion and ethics. (What? Too sappy?) ;-)
I can guarantee that our next vehicular purchase will warrant a check with dogcars.com. The various ratings may not entirely make our decision for us, but the reviews will undoubtedly warrant consideration.
Keep up the good work!
