Brave new world? Superbug bites both my dogs this time

I have nothing funny to say, no medical wisdom to impart, and absolutely no clue why I’m even here writing other than it’s that or cry myself to sleep.
Not only does Rebel have a drug-resistant staph infection in his bladder, but the same drug-resistant skin staph infection that Kyrie had earlier this year is back. Rebel’s last culture left us with nothing but drugs costing thousand of dollars and loaded with side effects, and chloramphenicol. We went with that, and he had a terrible neurological reaction to it that I honestly thought was going to kill him. He’s recovered from that, but I have no idea what we do next. He was scheduled for a vet appointment tomorrow morning…. and then this afternoon, Kyrie’s skin erupted again in the same horrible lesion she had last time.
I’m taking them both to the vet in the morning, but I just feel like, I don’t know, like a house fell on me…

Christie- Sending big hugs your way ! I hope both of them are doing better soon.

Know my thoughts are with you. What a terrible, frightening and frustrating time this is for you.

You’ve got hundreds of people lifting you up virtually, if that helps in any way.
Is it possible Kyrie was re-exposed because of Rebel’s illness? Could the honey help again? I’m completely clueless about the high dollar antibiotics and such but I do remember that this helped Kyrie last time. Please keep us posted.
Prayers for you and your pups.

Christie, I’m so sorry to read this. I hope there’s something the vet can offer to cure/ease Kyrie & Rebel’s issues, and your worries…

Try some D-Mannose. Can’t hurt (it’s a sugar) and it might just help.
Pepper (my epileptic white GSD) gets UTIs all the time, and this helps her clear them without drugs.
Hang in there

Christie, my thoughts are with you.
I also hope the vet has something good to help the dogs.
May your dogs find some relief somehow.
