I don’t like Ike, and neither does anyone else

Here we go again …
I spent last night watching “weather porn” — Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel broadcasting from the Texas coast and getting just a little too excited (in a serious, professional way, of course) about the impending doom that is Hurricane Ike. We’ll be monitoring and posting as the storm plays out, but please bookmark these other sites as well:
- Al Tompkin’s feed on Twitter: Tompkins is with the Poynter Institute, and he’s always Johnny on the Spot with the most recent pointers, and lots of background help.
- The Hurricane Information Center: Andy Carvin of NPR has coordinated a massive volunteer effort to pull together just about everything that’s out there into one place.

Follow-up to “Alibar’s last day: A love story“: Alibar was euthanized after another day that was a horse’s opinion of heaven. Sarah’s writing and pictures will break your heart, but their final hours together were all that you could ask for a beloved animal. Courageous and loving work on her part, both to document their final chapter, and to share it with others. Here and here … and tissue alert, by the box.

Gina, I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to share Alibar’s story. I cry when I read the supportive responses and I blush with pride when I share my beautiful Alibar with fellow horse lovers.
There is birth and death in every love story.

How true, Sarah, how true. And again, I am so sorry about Alibar.
