The prayers of a nation turn, again, to New Orleans

What a difference three years makes. Seems like everyone, from residents to government agencies at all levels to non-governmental organizations of all kinds, has learned many of the lessons of Katrina, including that people will risk their lives rather than leave their pets behind.
With Hurricane Gustav on the way, possibly to Louisiana and Mississippi, let’s all be ready to help … and hope that our help won’t be needed, as we pray the weather gods will spare our still-struggling brothers and sisters hurt so badly before.

Yikes, I just blogged about Hurricane Season with tips and hints yesterday.
You bet, I’ve got my prayer vigil going. They have already been evacuating animals.

Let’s also hope that, should Nawlins be unlucky enough to experience another deluge, the AR whackos don’t get in there and kill dogs en masse, like they did last time.
It’s also the three-year anniversary of Ontario’s descent into madness, dogwise. Day of enactment and all that.

Hoping here, that those pet carriers piled up at the bus transport sites, are put into the busses with the people and not underneath them in non-climate controlled conditions. The temps will be in the 90’s..and blacktop temps way above that…

I have a co-worker/friend visiting N.O. right now. Heard that visitors have been ordered to leave…hope he’s ok!

About three days before Katrina made landfall, I was filled with absolute dread. I knew it was going to be a complete nightmare. Of course, it was far worse that I ever dreamed it could be.
Ready and willing to help out as best we can. Fingers crossed and prayers being said for the gulf states.

The Republican convention will suffer a bit with attention drawn to New Orleans.
I pray the animals are safe in New Orleans and everywhere that the storm hits—but I fear for them.

Read that McCain is monitoring the hurricane Gustav situation.

Um .. so? That and a bus will get you out of New Orleans. Not seeing much of what either candidate can accomplish now except for photo-ops. And oh, there WILL be photo ops.

I saw on the news that the pet carriers were transported in air-conditioned truck trailers.
