Isn’t it nice when great things happen to a good DogCar?
Mitsubishi has announced that the 2008 Outlander, the automaker’s small crossover SUV, has been awarded the top safety pick in all three crash-test categories by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) this week awarded its “Top Safety Pick” to the 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander, after the crossover SUV earned the top rating in all three of the Institute’s crashworthiness evaluations.
Mitsubishi, of course, is thrilled:
“When you add Outlander’s superior crash protection to its combination of styling, performance, fuel efficiency, and value, it doesn’t take a back seat to any vehicle in the crossover segment,” said EVP of Sales and Marketing Dan Kuhnert. “We’re extremely pleased that the IIHS has confirmed our commitment to safety.”
Dan forgot to mention that the Outlander is a great DogCar too. You’ll recall that we applauded the fact that the Outlander has all the necessary attributes that make it DogCar worthy. In fact, the company even includes a couple of dog photos on the Outlander press website.
The IIHS tests vehicles in several crash-worthy categories including front, rear and side impacts and came up with four small crossover SUVs that rated the top prize. Joining the 2008 Outlander is the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid (also covering the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner hybrids); the 2008 Nissan Rogue, and the 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan.
Oh, by the way, the new 2009 Outlander is due in showrooms next month.
