Products to assist his lift and settle him down
By Keith Turner
July 22, 2008
As your beloved pup starts to grow older, his bones and muscles may start to show signs of wear after years of youthful activity. But that lack of mobility doesn’t deter his desire to hit the road for fun and games with the rest of the crew.
But the combination of a large down and a high-rise vehicle can create a quandary for dog lovers who don’t have the strength or back muscles (after all, we’re getting older too) to handle the daily heavy lifting necessary to get your dog into the car.
That’s why DogCars.com product review expert Kim Campbell-Thornton took a look at a special, Tri-Fold Pet Auto Ramp by Jeep. The lightweight ramp is easy to transport and set up, plus it has a surface rough enough to provide traction for a dog’s paws.

Another product Kim was impressed with is a special organic solution that is designed to settle your pup’s stomach on long car rides. She tested the Ease the Quease by Kathy Santo on all three of her dogs and came away pleasantly surprised.
Here’s Kim’s report.

Another addition to the pet ramp would be Otto Step, which is not a ramp, this product is a portable platform step that simply inserts into any trailer hitch receiver, use to load Fido and stowe away after use.
Not only is this alternative easy to use, it weighs only 5.5 lbs and holds over 200 lbs., measures 18 inches wide by 16 inches deep. Otto Step is manufactured here in the United States and is very user friendly.
Dogs of all ages that are traveling in the cargo area of either a SUV, crossover, van, station wagon or pickup for that matter, should be introduced to these products at an early age to help ward off the joint and spinal injuries they incur when jumping down from these vehicles.
Puppies joints are forming in their early years and we need to do everything we can to keep from injuring their growth plates. Jumping is one of the main causes in joint injuries, while entering a vehicle is usually why we purchase these types of accessories, great care should be given when exiting them as well.
Otto Step offers a $5.00 donation to any Humane Society or Rescue organization when you purchase a step off their website. Check it out, you’ll be very pleased with what you see and while you are purchasing your first Otto Step, let them donate to your local nonprofit pet organization of your choice.
