The Sunday news wrap: The Times of London says scientists studying equine genetics believe that white/gray horses are a genetic mutation that would never have survived without human intervention. … Pet Connection BFF Dr. Patty Khuly offers her thoughts on the killing of wild horses (PetConnection blogger Kim Campbell Thornton offered her thoughts previously, here). … The “feline industry” has launched a new feline health initiative at the AVMA convention. Good idea, but “feline industry”? Sounds creepy … Protect your pet from home fires with some common-sense measures. … Gray wolves get federal protection again. … Important personal attitude adjustment update: I got my coffee machine working. …

I’ll add more when I see more …

  1. Also under the heading of Emergency Preparedness: Here is a link to the “Emergency Travel Notification Form” from the Papillon Club of America website:

    http://www.papillonclub.org/forms/Emergency.PDF

Keeping a completed copy of this form in your car (and it’s also a good idea to tape one to your pet’s travel crate) will help ensure your pet’s best interests are looked after according to your wishes in the event of an accident if you are injured badly enough not to be able to specify care for your pet(s) who are travelling with you.
