Gratuitous cat blogging: Mid-summer’s eve edition

July 19, 2008

Ilario is almost as big as Clara, and he’s not even six months old.

When the evenings are pleasant — not too hot — I take a book onto the back deck and read until dark. The dogs snooze around me, and the cats come out to enjoy the grass. Clara and Ilario chase each other and wrestle, and finally just relax. (Click to see it larger.)

  4. Look at those identical face stipes! Since they are both from the same cattery, do you know how are they related (1/2 siblings, cousins)?

  5. Clara and Ilario look so healthy. Two beautiful cats—I am glad they get along so well. Ilario is getting bigger fast.

Thanks for showing us the picture.

  6. 2Cat … I’d have to look, but I seem to recall they have the same father. The parents are chosen for their low testing on the allergen scale. Clara’s mom’s allergy reading is almost non-existed. Ilario’s mom is a little higher.

The males are harder to read, if I recall, because allergen levels increase with testosterone. (Hey, maybe that’s why I’m allergic to marriage!)

Because of the “male factor,” little Mr. Ilario was neutered at 10 weeks. That may mean he’ll get a little leggier than if he’d been allowed more time before neutering.

  8. Ilario and Clara might be true brother and sister—but we will never know.

Anyways, I looked out the window and saw a bright star (or planet) this morning—it was Brandy making a strong appearance in the sky.
My cat left this world on 7/18 and is showing me where she is now.

Batman, my male cat, says I got everything to myself now.

There is nothing like a good cat, I say. I am very prejudice so please forgive my bias.

Ilario and Clara, youse is de greatest in the world!

  9. what a stunning pair, Clara has the same colouring and markings of my own passed cat Tigger.

Great photograph too, it is well composed and is a real eye catcher.
