Fortunately Ive got the creek - muddy though it is - for the guys. Little white Scouty came back yesterday with only his back not coated in black mud.

Trigger is catching on but he is not up to all of it yet but he still came back with black legs and all wet - smiling all the way!

But then I would still like to know why, when I get them home they act like Im trying to drown them when I start running the bath water?

Iven the gentle sprinkler on the garden hose at the farm house terrifies them and I have to catch them before I bring it out because once they see it - that's all folks! Especially Trigger who must have been beaten in his past life because all you have to do is raise your hand or a stick and he slinks away much less the hose...

Poor guy, he must have had a dreadful life. Shot, heart worms, starved and stray he made it to the shelter. Now he is here with me and Scout and a more gentle and loving dog you could not find. It does me a great deal of good to seem him happy and learning the ropes under Scout's leadership. He now knows the way to the farm too and catches the enthusiasm as we get closer. But he has a long way to heal. On the way home he is sleeping while Scout still has his head out the window.

The heat, the heat!! It makes it difficult to be a dog owner. As energetic as my 'kids' are - the second they feel the burn of the sun and the hot pavement, they look at me and turn to go home.

Its all I can do to drag them along for a nice job so they don't do their laps in my house!!

Looking forward to cooler days....Oh - has anyone invented a 'cooling coat?' Maybe I could strap them in ice packs before we head out...

Hi Gina,

Just curious, since I live in the Sacramento area and have a Portuguese Water Dog, where do you take your dogs to swim? I have had a hard time finding a dog friendly water spot within 45 minutes of Davis.
