Marines give puppy-killer the boot
By Gina Spadafori
June 11, 2008
Good riddance to ya. From the AP:
The Marine Corps said Wednesday it was expelling one Marine and disciplining another for their roles in a video showing a Marine throwing a puppy off a cliff while on patrol in Iraq.
The 17-second video posted on YouTube [....] shows two Marines joking before one hurls the puppy into a rocky gully. A yelping sound is heard as it flips through the air.
Rest of the story here, for those who don’t remember when it first broke.

What does expelled mean? Will he still get any government benefits? Will he be court-martialed and dishonorably discharged.
That is not harsh enough, he should spend time in jail!!!

I’m so glad this story didn’t just get buried.

I know a few animal loving Marines that were very upset when the story broke. It’s nice that the Marine Corp. took some punitive action.

I don’t watch these animal killing videos so maybe I’m confused but was there more than one video? A puppy killing incident in Hawaii? If so, what happened with that one?

The marine in this story was from Hawaii, and there was some speculation that the incident occurred in the States rather than Iraq, so I’m pretty sure this is the infamous puppy tossing incident from YouTube.
So many memebers of my family are former and current military and this incident troubled them all greatly. I have great respect for our men and women in uniform - the bunch involved in this incident, not so much.

They should have booted him off the same cliff. I saw another website where he is whining that the dog was sick and they usually shoot them rather than carry them 10 miles blah blah blah - he was just being creative that day - the puppy would die anyway. Too bad he didn’t break a leg on a hike and be given the choice of being shot or thrown off a cliff - maybe his brain would have kicked in at that point.
