Michael Coates, an automotive journalist and dog-lover who specializes in the green side of the automotive world (the environmentally friendly kind, not the color), sent this photo of Volvo’s dog-safety press conference at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this month.

These pups seemed to be enjoying the attention as the auto journalists crowded in close to get a shot of Volvo’s new celebrity spokesdogs.

Here’s Michael’s report:

The cliche of the hour was “Volvo is going to the dogs,” but what we meant was that Volvo had handed over its Chicago Auto Show press spot to one of the organizations it supports: Bark-BuckleUP.

Based in San Diego, the group braved the February snows to come to the Windy City to spread the word about pet safety in cars. Volvo is a natural ally with its dog-friendly station wagons. The gist of the program is: Secure your dog when you’re driving the same way you do yourself.
