How the professional writer wastes time while working on her new books
By Gina Spadafori

Looking at real estate online. (Mikkel Becker has me convinced that I’d LOVE Moscow-ID/Pullman, WA. One problem there, Mikkel — snow.)
Shopping for earrings online. (Formal dinner to attend Thursday night.)
Comparing breeds of chickens online. I found a hatchery within an hour of here! Pet chickens will soon be mine!
Removing the mop head from the puppy’s mouth three times before I put it in the garage. Removing Clara from the puppy’s mouth once before Clara clocks her but good. Removing the Korean edition of “Why Do Dogs Drink Out of the Toilet?” from the puppy’s mouth. Giving puppy a chew toy, twice, and then keeping McKenzie from stealing it, also twice. Making up a “Bad Girlz Club” badge for the puppy.
Calling the feed store to see if I can get one more stall mat for Clara’s Secret Garden. Also: Hay and litter. And puppy chew toys, more of.
Blogging about how I’m wasting time. It’s an important part of the creative process, I’m quite certain of it.
Writing isn’t very fun sometimes, especially when your co-authors are waiting on you. What writers like, really, is the exciting feeling of having written.
Update: I accomplished all I needed to on the books today! Hooray.
Update No. 2: Uh, tomorrow. New list.
