Finding the right rig presents a DogCar dilemma
By Keith Turner
January 11, 2008
We’re intrigued by a story on Automotive Blogger by Bill Mertz about how his friend Jay is in need of a new (or replacement) dog car. Bill talks about how Jay’s old rig — an old, slow-as-molasses Mercedes Benz wagon — is ready for the pasture, and he needs some ideas about what DogCar would handle the daily duties of driving him and his dog around town.
Bill doesn’t mention what sort of dog Jay owns, except to say that it makes Jay’s car into a “scratched leather, hair everywhere, smelly, droolly dogmobile.”
Clearly, Bill is not a dog person. Or if he is, he sure doesn’t appreciate the particular distinctiveness that a dog or two may bring to the insides of a vehicle. Especially in wet, winter weather like we’ve been having lately.
But the writer does allude to the fact that perhaps it is Jay who is the hardest one to please when choosing a new rig. We can be fairly certain that whatever replacement vehicle he eventually chooses, will absolutely thrill his canine companion — just as long as he gets to ride along.
Got any of your own DogCar favorites for people like Jay who are searching for a unique, dog-friendly chariot? Let us know and we promise to pass it along.
