Secure your dog for safe travel

It’s time to hit the road for the holidays. But while most folks will make sure their kids are securely strapped into their seat belts, those same safety-conscious travelers won’t provide the same protection for their dogs.
According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, millions of us take our dogs with us while we travel, but only about 20 percent of us secure them safely in the car.
That’s why an organization called Bark-BuckleUp is rolling out a campaign that is aimed at educating dog owners about how to make sure their pet is safely restrained in the vehicle.
The group is joining with Kurgo to showcase products that are designed to keep your dog protected when traveling in a car. The products will be on display at the upcoming San Diego International Auto Show, Dec. 26-30.
DogCars.com has tested and reviewed a couple of the products that will be on display at the show. The Kurgo Backseat Barrier earned three out of five paws, as did the Kurgo Auto Zip Line.
At DogCars.com, we believe pets should not be loose in the car. It’s dangerous for the animals, the driver and others on the road (pets can be a distraction for a driver, triggering an accident). Seat belt or crate, it’s your choice, but secure your pet!
