Diesel saves the day!

A story out of London tells of a how a large Great Dane thwarted a would-be car thief by surprising the bad guy as he attempted to drive off in someone else’s Toyota SUV.
Apparently Diesel was sleeping the back of his family’s vehicle when the carjacker got into the SUV — which had the keys in ignition — started it up and began to drive off. This activity woke up the Great Dane, who proceeded to stand up and fill the rear-view mirror with his large, lovable head.
The sight of Diesel startled the bad guy so much that he slammed on the brakes, jumped out of the car and ran away in fear of being mauled by the big pup.
The dog’s owner, Nick Briggs, 41, told the South West News agency that the thief would not have been able to see Diesel before entering the car, because the windows were steamed up due to rains.
Briggs said, however, he would “love to have seen the look on his face when he saw Diesel in the mirror. He must have got the shock of his life.”
. . .
The final twist in this tale is that, as Briggs told the South West News agency, “Diesel is a big softie. He wouldn’t harm a fly. He’s a lovely dog, not at all nasty.”
While we would never recommend leaving a dog (or your car keys) in your vehicle for long periods of time — especially during hot summer months — this is a case where it certainly served a positive purpose.
Who needs a car alarm when you’ve got a Diesel!
