Sick Vick: Enjoy your prison stay, creep!

I’d rather see 23 months for every dog killed, but given the circumstances — few animal abusers are actively prosecuted — it’s probably the best that could be expected.
Now, let’s hope the less-famous dog-fighting vermin are just as aggressively prosecuted. From the AP:
Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy that involved gambling and killing pit bulls.
The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback could have been sentenced up to five years by U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick, who turned himself in Nov. 19 in anticipation of his sentence, was wearing a black-and-white striped prison suit.
After Vick apologized to the court and his family, Hudson told him: “You need to apologize to the millions of young people who looked up to you.”
Here’s the rest. I don’t buy any of his contrite behavior, by the way, not one word. The only thing he’s sorry about is that he lost his money, his life and can’t fight dogs anymore.

The sentencing last week of Vick’s co-horts pretty much [to my mind] showed the way of things to come, so 23 months [less good behavior time] comes as no surprise. However, I had been hoping he would get the max of five years.
And now I read that Conrad Black got 78 months for profiteering.
Not that I dispute the Black sentence, but since when does killing a living creature warrant a much smaller sentence?
Remorse? Hah! Are you KIDDING.
I guess the best we can hope for is that he gets at least two more years when the other case is heard.

A guy on local radio said that Vick would be professionally sought after when his sentence was up because he would be “well rested and just as talented as when he went in”. Yeah, he’ll still be as much of an ass, too, I suspect.
Wouldn’t it be nice if NO ONE was the least bit interested in him career-wise when he gets out? Or if he has some sort of epiphany while on the inside?

I think the sentence is just right. Frankly this wonderful wise Judge can do no wrong with me whatever sentence he would have given Vick.
Judge Hudson made the unprecedented decision to give the dogs a second chance. Hopefully future similar cases will follow his exemplerary lead.
Also the support/alimony payments for future care of the abused dogs is another cutting edge decision IMO.
I really donot care one iota what happens to Vick in the future(good or bad). Not interested, just want to forget about this character. Much more interested how the dogs will fare.

Another false apology. His “contrite” attitude fools no one. Of course he’s sorry he got caught! Many people are still willing to give him a pass (no pun intended) because he’s a star. However, the judge did not let his fame interfere with making the correct decision. May he never touch a football again.

Everyone, please remember the Universal Law: “What goes around comes around.” Vick is not immune to that law, so just imagine what is in store for him over his entire life. He may not suffer outwardly, but you can bet he’s going to be a horrifyingly hurtin’ soul at some point.

And I can’t wait for that day to come, Nadine L.
Must wait for April 2nd for the other trial to start. Some are already saying that due to the severity of the charges that Hudson placed on Vick, the other trial may not move forward.
While I have the greatest respect for the Honorable Judge Hudson, I still believe that Vick must stand trial in April as well.

As to “what comes around goes around”, guess this happened already a bit in April when a sniffing police dog started the whole sequence of events. You have to love the poetic justice of this.

As to the upcoming April trial, think it was a PR stunt by the blundering sitting on hands Poindexter to get elected again. Would not be surprised if it will never materialize.

My wish for Vick is that he develops a chronic problem of dropping his bar of soap in the prison shower. Think about it! Karmic in the extreme but - as was said before - “what goes around…”.

I like your thinking Roxanne of Vick dropping his soap in the shower. How about this? Maybe someone in prison won’t be so impressed by Vick’s player stature and will whack his knee cap or some such apertiture and end Vick’s career in football for good.

Check out Vick’s letter to the Judge in which he claimed he “loved animals” and said that, as he was growing up, no one ever got punished for dogfighting in his neighborhood. He asked the Judge for leniency. Letter is on CNN.com.

Letter is here:

He also vows to continue helping PeTA. Just what we need . . . . . . . .

Oh, that letter. Probably drafted by his lawyer, albeit nothing wrong with that, since he is paying for them to do that kind of thing. And , who knows, maybe Judge Hudson even had a higher sentence in mind.
Still Vick paid dearly for his actions and I donot wish anything bad on him in prison. He already paid the very hefty price.
Frankly I wish him the best for his future, I know the surviving dogs would. Dogs truly are such wonderful forgiving creatures, if only humans could be more like them.

Well, the last co defendant Tony Taylor only got two months. Guess that was because he was a singing canary.
Anyway this article about close relatives of the american pit bull terrier is so wonderful IMO.
