What I’m driving: Ford F-250 Super Duty Lariat 4X4

Just by writing the name of this big brute of a truck makes me want to load up the canine crew and haul on out to the prairie for some steer wranglin’ and calf ropin’.
That’s really where the Ford F-250 Super Duty Lariat belongs — in the rough and tumble land of the Wild West, if you can find any.
For the rest of us city and suburban dwellers, the F-250 Super Duty Lariat 4X4 may be a bit much. It’s certainly handy for hauling loads of feed, hay and furniture, but as a daily driver, it’s a tad bit overkill, don’tchathink?
I like the idea of driving a diesel because it produces great power with none of that black, lung-choking smog that older diesels were famous for. But the nearly $7,000 additional cost of adding the 6.4-liter V-8 is something else worth choking on. In fact, the entire option package for this vehicle gives one pause to think about reconsidering their purchase. The base MSRP is a reasonable $34,755, but the options, add-ons and accessories push the total price of this vehicle to $51,040. Yikes!
Better bring this baby in off the prairie, it’s too valuable.
