Sorry, but we gotta do a little bragging

November 3, 2007

On the left is my girl McKenzie. On the right is her littermate sister Sprint.

Sprint kicked some serious border collie butt today in the Performance National Finals of the USDAA’s Grand Prix of Dog Agility World Championships, finishing second in the 22-inch class. PetConnection congratulations to Sprintie and Teresa Rodney, a/k/a T-Rod. Go Team Flatcoat!

Here’s a picture of Sprint weaving. Wow! And here’s another.

Update: Sprint was FIRST in the Performance National Speedjumping Finals tonight. She IS Windfall’s MADE TO RUN. I’m so proud of Sprintie and T-Rod!

JazzT-Rod’s older flatcoat, Jazz, is even more incredible: She’s still running almost a year after being diagnosed with cancer. The picture to the right is Jazz, and it’s one of the best pictures I’ve ever taken — and certainly one of my all-time favorites. I love the look of concentration and drive on her face, and how she so perfectly holds her front paws together. Talk about winning form! (Click on the pic to see it large.)

Long may she run!

Why is college football shown live but not dog sports? Unfair! I wanna watch!

P.S. Want to donate in Jazz’s honor? National Canine Cancer Foundation.

P.P.S. Update on Pippin: He is just the sweetest boy! He loves toys and loves to play. I do think rescue is right: There’s some border collie in him. It’s not only his size and body type, but also something about the way he moves. I have been thinking about all the fun nicknames for these breeds, and I think I like calling him a German Shedder-Brainy Collie cross.

Well, Gina, you know how effective internet blogs are for getting things done! I would think the market will soon be ready for televised dog sports with all the pet people in the U.S. and the increased interest in dog activities. I wanna watch too! Why I’d even forego HGTV for DOGTV.

  4. Fabulous shot! Don’t you love digital cameras? How are the Empress and Pippin getting along?

  5. The Empress Clara has decided the Mr. Pip is suitably reverent and may be allowed to stay.

I do feel a little better about the college football thing, since ABC switched us left-coasters over to the FSU-BC game after USC was over. AND THE SEMINOLES WON! Yay!

  6. Awesome job! Congrats to Sprint & T-Rod on their stellar performances! It’s so great to see ABCs (anything but collies) excelling in AG and even more so at USDAA Nationals!

  7. Empress Clara and knave Pip seem like good soul mates, even though they are different species.

Besides, he being sensitive, HE would let HER cozy up to HIM first. Please correct me if I am in error.

Glad Clara and the rest of the group are okay with Pip.
