The most expensive horse ever to enter starting gate on Saturday

So you spent $16 million dollars on 2-year-old thoroughbred from some very nice lines. You name him The Green Monkey and send him to one of the best trainers in the world, Todd Pletcher. And there stands the most expensive horse ever, month after month after month, eating lots of very nice hay, having people take pictures of him and wondering when this wonderhorse will race — if ever. After all, he hasn’t run in a single race yet, much less any of the famous races for horses his age, like the Kentucky Derby.
What are you thinking about today, the day before your $14,500-a-pound horse steps out on the track for his very first race?
That’s something few of us will ever know, I’m sure. But when a horse like Funny Cide purchased for a mere $75,000 as a 2-year-old wins the Derby (as he did in 2003) or a longshot like Giacomo does (as happened in 2005), I’d bet “life’s not fair” is on top of the list.
Update: He ran a lackluster third. And check out the T-shirt.

Still love racing although Barbaro’s tragic end put a damper on it for quite some time. No matter how much $$ this baby is worth, his rock star quality shines through. Love the longshot winners though.

Is he still a 2 year old? The horses in the Triple Crown races are 3 year olds, so maybe next year is his year.

Should have read to article before posting! I see now that he didn’t race because of an injury.
