A new cat for No. 10 Downing … with a comedic twist

September 11, 2007

Reuters is reporting that a decade after Tony Blair sent Humphrey packing, successor Gordon Brown has welcomed a new cat to the Prime Minister’s traditional London digs.

Few details are available, but it’s reported that the cat’s name is Sybil, after the wife of the John Cleese character Basil Fawlty in the classic ’70s Brit-com “Fawlty Towers.” (Which may be my favorite show of all time. Best episode: “The Germans.”)

Sybil that cat doesn’t belong to the Browns, but rather came to London with Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling and his family.
