Clara doesn’t care. It’s all good.

Today I’ll be spending the day doing laundry and working on DogCars.com. (OK, and I really should do something about that messy kitchen floor!) I’ve got about a dozen reviews of new vehicles (including the Hummer H3 (!) and the really nice all new Buick Enclave) to post. Also close to that many of pet travel product reviews to load onto the site (thanks, Kim!). Check them out.

DogCars.com has gone through a major renovation thanks to visitor suggestions. Not quite done yet, but it’ll be all in place by Labor Day. We’ll probably have some giveaways of DogCars.com and University of Woof/University of Meow logo gear to celebrate. Stay tuned. (Of course, if you don’t want to wait … )

  1. In all of your spare time (heh) could there someday be RSS feeds for new car reviews and new product reviews on DogCars.com? I’d love that!

  2. John, that’s a fabulous idea! You got it. We’ll have the rest of the DogCars.com changes done by the end of the Labor Day weekend. I’m adding RSS feeds to the list, if it’s technically possible. (I’ll ask Black Dog on Monday.)

  3. Ok - we’re anxiously awaiting the official Clara weigh in! Just how much cat is under all that beautious fluffiness?

  4. I prefer paper regardless of the cat opinion. With plastic bags, the typical outcome is a panicked cat racing madly through the house with a bag stuck on his or her head who inevitably runs into the orchids and breaks an orchid pot and orchid plant. Then I get to apply bandaids to self from the cat/orchid rescue, try to nurse the orchid back to some kind of stability and find a new pot. In my climate the last two are not easy tasks, and I am much more forgiving of the cat who annually eats the bloom buds off of one orchid species. I must admit I fall on the floor helpless with laughter as they bash into stuff with a plastic bag stuck on his or her head (plastic bags are never available to them except while I unpack groceries, but they are both very fast). They can have paper bags whenever they want, because one cat knows how to open the cupboard with the childproof latch in which the paper bags are stored, and no orchids are ever impacted. We all much prefer interacting with cardboard boxes.

  5. Gina, what’s Clara’s weight and age? I’m asking because we got a kitten at roughly the same time, and our little guy is rapidly becoming a moose. We think maybe he’s part Maine Coon (rescue, so who knows). But we’d be very grateful for the chance to compare stats. Thanks!

  6. My cat loves plastic bags. I even pull him around the house in them or on them. But watch them carefully so that the handles don’t get looped around their necks. I usually just cut the handles which makes it a bit safer. Still supervised though.
It’s beautiful to watch how fast Clara is growing.

  7. Hi Gina, She looks so cute. But the thing with the plastic bags is that My cat got the handle caught around his neck and it scared Him so much He took off running. Well, as He ran, the bad twisted tighter and tighter , and by the time i finally caught him He was being choked to death. And I had a very hard time getting it off of him. so if any plastic bags are around here, I always cut the handles. Just a word of caution.

  8. My folks and I had an odd cat who liked to chew on plastic - bags, X-mas tree, etc. We wound up putting a dish of Noxema under the tree. Cats HATE the smell.
