The fake news humor site The Onion put all its animal stories in one place, and oh my there are some gems, such as:
- New Puppy Teaches Congress Important Lesson About Responsibility
- Vacationing Woman Thinks Her Cats Miss Her
- Actress Opens Poorly Conceived Animal Hospital
and much, much more, including the classic Recall of 2007 Pugs.
Take a break and have a laugh. Go.

“Vacationing Woman Thinks Cats Miss Her” is really well done — “…”Buttons is so sensitive, I just know she’s scared and frightened without her Mommy by her side,” Davrian told uninterested relatives Monday…” How many “uninterested relatives” (and friends)have I not bothered to share with after getting that blank stare when explaining my “lack of travel plans”! The friend who agreed to care for the cats is well described also.
I truly relate to this excerpt: “…Since 1996, she has failed to enjoy 219 activities or excursions, including two trips to Lake Winnepesaukee, a visit to a local botanical garden, 23 movies, and three dinners–each of which she spent worrying about being “out of phone contact in case something goes wrong.” I have a time share that I’ve visited only once and stayed only one nite because they don’t allow animals and I missed mine at home/thought they missed me. They did miss me, too. The dogs showed how happy they were to see me (ok, so they act like that when I go and get the mail also, but still it IS sincere. The cats seemed a bit put out when I wanted my bed back, but it only took a couple of nights before they let me sleep in it again.
