Thanks Kat! I thought I had dodged a bullet switching from Nutro to Natural Balance V&GP and Royal Canin Skin....not so sure anymore.

I am looking at a cat food recipe and it suggests adding Taurine if not using Heart meats.http://www.catnutrition.org/recipes.html

I remember Mom in the 70s giving our cats calves liver as a treat (probably because we wouldn't eat it) ...I guess I could start there, see how my modern guys like it.....I see more chicken livers in the market than cow. They love turkey, but only deli turkey...
It's as if we fed them McDonald-esque food all this time, and nobody told us

I haven't looked but taurine can probably be found at the health food store. It's naturally found in fish, eggs, meat & milk.

The times I've looked on the pet food labels, it's a minimum of .10% of the ingredients...per serving.

So if I go with a home made cat diet...where do I get Taurine capsules? I mean the ones that weren't made in CHINA?
...

I hope the FDA is looking at baby formula, don't they use rice protein???

If the FDA is anything similar to FEMA....this is going to get far uglier.

God Help Us all.

Here's a great indepth look at China's export -- and the poor quality -- per Yale.ude/Wall Street Journal's view:

Who's Monitoring Chinese Food Exports?

HONG KONG -- Tainted foods from China are becoming a growing problem as the country plays a greater part in the global food chain. Chemical use is high, regulations are lax, and while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has the authority to check imports for contaminants that are in violation of U.S. law, it is able to physically inspect only a small fraction of them....

Ok,so I just went to the howl911 site, and they are using chocolate brown ribbons. Guess I'm not so brilliant after all. There still isn't anything posted about San Diego or Orange Co

Tell me if this sounds hokey. I was thinking we could adopt animal print ribbons (like the pink breast cancer awareness ribbons) as a symbol of the need for pet food legislative reform. Obviously pet food isn't as serious as breast cancer, but quite a few causes have similar ribbons in different colors. The blogs regarding celebrities made me think of it, and if we wore them, people most likely would ask about the significance. Would give us an opportunity to educate the general public. Be kind if you think it's stupid or frivolous.
I am also still trying to get info regarding the March on April 28.
