Skippy was not affected by the February 2007 salmonella outbreak that affected competing brands Peter Pan and Great Value.

Well lucky them I hope they learned something.

My puppy consumed skippy and YES it was contaminated and she is ill she had an emergency appt and he put her on antibiotics the first of the week if she isnt better he is keeping her
She wont eat all she does is drink she is week she sleeps all the time she does not have the energy a puppy should.

[Gina note: We are, of course, always sympathetic when a pet gets sick. But we are also duty-bound to correct statements that may damage people or companies. Skippy peanut butter, like most jarred brands, is not part of the recall. The problems concern products with peanut ingredients from the Peanut Corporation of America plant in Blakely, GA. Visit the FDA's site for more information.]

matt, i am so sorry to hear about your dog. i know you must be terribly upset, but please please report this to both the pet food company and fda. DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH KILLING YOUR PET!!! i don't know what your financial situation is, but if at all possible please have a necropsy done and/or the bag of possible poison tested. see if your vet will contact the aavld as well. the latest issue of javma has an article in it that says they're looking for samples and case reports. also, get the product codes and post them here or on itchmo.com so that others can check to see if they have the same lot numbers. your warning could save many lives.

javma article:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AVMA journals > JAVMA News > AAVLD survey July l5, 2007

AAVLD continues to seek samples, case reports
Printer-friendly version

The American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians encourages AAVLD laboratories, along with other laboratories and private practitioners in the United States and Canada, to continue sending samples and reporting cases of nephrotoxicosis possibly associated with adulterated pet food, using the Web-based survey tool it launched in April.

The survey is accessible to AAVLD laboratories on the members-only area of the Web site, www.aavld.org. Nonmembers can enter case data via the public area by clicking on News and then on AAVLD Pet Food Toxicity Survey.

Dr. Barbara Powers, AAVLD president and director of the Colorado State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, said that the survey goal is to distinguish true cases of nephropathy unique to this recall, resulting in criteria that define a true case.

"So far, the survey has 486 cases posted, and those data are under review and analysis," Dr. Powers said. "Considering the many entries, that will take some time. Any cases that do not meet the criteria for further investigation will be excluded.

"A few late occurrences of renal failure have been reported, related perhaps to earlier exposure to the contaminated pet food. It will be valuable to receive any other such reports so that we may document them as possible late effects of pet food-associated nephrotoxicosis."

The data will be made available to the Food and Drug Administration for its investigations and will form the basis for a retrospective study to be presented at the AAVLD convention in October.

Veterinarians who want to submit relevant samples can go to www.aavld.org and click on Accreditation to access a list of AAVLD-accredited diagnostic laboratories, or contact a state veterinary diagnostic laboratory, veterinary teaching hospital, or veterinary laboratory with which they have a professional relationship and inquire about sample submission.

This is probably the wrong post, I can't find the one I posted on this am. Anyway, yesterday a 22 year old man died as a result of his made in China cell phone that exploded in his pocket! Our media will most likely not cover this story as it happened in China to a Chinese citizen. I saw it through BBC. I have to confess that the idea of exploding cell phones would be almost Karmic as it seems to cause near druken like driving in our city! Maybe it will happen in this country. Maybe the company that made the cell phone that exploded will finally be named. Maybe an accident like this would finally wake up our government to the fact that Chinese products are a threat to national security.

Last week I purchased Kibbles & Bits from WalMart and my dog was none too pleased with it. Within a few days she became lethargic, uninterested in eating, and overall depressed. Monday this week I took her to the vet and she has MAJOR KIDNEY FAILURE. It is likely that I will have to euthanise my 6 year old (otherwise healthy) Min-Pin today and it blows my mind that this could happen.

DO NOT BUY KIBBLES & BITS PLEASE!!!!

Del Monte is never going to fess up about the Shredded Turkey in gravy until someone gets a sample of it tested and it comes back positive. My cat died on March 10th. I know that was the food that killed him. He only ate 9 lives wet food. There were two or three flavors that he ate that listed wheat glutten in them.

Why they are able to get away with this blows my mind as I know a lot of people who lost cats who ate 9 lives canned.

I am still mad.

kim, i'm very sorry about your kitties. it's an outrage that this should still be going on, months after the original recall. please do report this to 9 lives and file a complaint with fda. i'm not saying that it will do a blind bit of good, but you should at least be able to take out your frustrations on them and make them as uncomfortable as possible.

Kim, I'm sorry for your loss of your lovely siamese. As a kid, my "Kitty" was a seal point and she lived to be 22 years old. We grew up together and I still miss her after all these years.
