At several stores we are still seeing the Recalled foods not being taken off the shelves and still being sold to the public as safe!!!

Walmart even refuses to take the pet foods off the list, and Bakers (Kroeger) stores in the Omaha, Nebraska and other outlying area cities through out Nebraska and Iowa still have the foods on their shelves for sale to the public as safe!!!

Nobody really knows how many pets already died
and how many will die in future.Money, money, money and lies, lies, lies.
I don't trust anybody and anything any more and
started to cook for my dogs.Rice, vegetable and chicken. It smells nice and tastes very good and
dogs love it and I know what is in their food. It costs little bit more but I am saving a lot on the vet's bill.Try to open can with dog food.
The smell.Yuk. It tells you what is in it.

Hello all: My dog is very sick. She became sick last Thursday and she's now at a vet hospital. They still do not know what's wrong. At one point, her liver was leaking enzymes and her white blood count was very low. She's been on IV antibiotics all weekend & she's dehydrated. They want to do exploratoratory surgery to try to find out what the cause is. Our bills are over $1500 so far. My question is this: on the bottom of the Mighty Dog cans, I can see a "best if used by" date. But I don't see a date the food was made. Does anyone know where to find the date the food was made?

Thanks.

Don't believe their corporate propaganda.

If you had, say, a contaimnation of lead or mercury at a baby food company, they entire plant would quickly become contaminated unless they shut it down and scrubbed it from top to bottom and sterilized everything.

So far, this has not happened. So what we are almost certainly looking at is a case of small bits of poison on the order of 1-5PPM seeping into everything else that they make - including dry food - especially suspect would be the dry food that makes any sort of "gravy".

The entire plant needs to be shut down and we need the government pounding them hard for answers.

I applaud Kroger! Menufoods should be avoided totally until they can prove to us that each of their products are safe. They rest of the supermarket chains should follow suit and remove all products made at Menufoods from their shelves.

My husband and I, like Scott lost a dog to renal failure outside the "window" that has been identified. Our Giant Schnauzer, Roxy, died October 11, 2006 after 5 long and agonizing days in the hospital. Prior to her illness she had been eating canned Nutro and Natural Choice foods - the ones currently named on the recall list (different use by dates) The vets were heroic and tried everything, but couldn't save her.

I am thoroughly convinced that there is much more to this recall than what is being told. I am thoroughly convinced that this has been going on much longer than the companies will be willing to admit. I plan on submitting for medical expenses which total over $2000.00. I have 5 cans of food that remain from what she had been eating. I don't know why I never got rid of the food, but now I am glad that I didn't. I am even more relieved that I didn't feed it to our Irish Terriers or to our new Giant Schnauzer pup.

I refuse to feed commercial food. We moved to a raw diet for everyone after we brought the pup home. That was what the breeder fed the pup and we kept her on it, then slowly migrated to the raw diet with the boys. I have even gone so far as to have my brother-in-law raise chickens for me so I can feed the dogs chicken that I know did not received growth hormones or anything else that could cause an issue. I will do everything I can to avoid ever having to watch another beloved pet die the way Roxy died.

My dog who was on pouch food died of acute renal failure 1 year ago. I am terified this goes back farther than we thought. I also wonder of the culpability of the big boxes that sold this stuff, the manufacturer who tried to use cheap wheat from china and our government who let it happen

"Will people please stop SHOUTING. We are all upset. I know, I too have lost a pet and feel like screaming, but I trust readers will be able to read my messages without me SHOUTING at them."

Should any forum newbies not understand the subtlety there, TYPING IN CONSTANT ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED "SHOUTING"--at the very least it makes it very hard for others to read or want to read what you typed. ;)

Posting this again, even though it's been posted a few times on Pet Connection by myself and others, in this thread early on I posted it:

Good blog with a list on who is canning their own moists vs having someone else (like Menu Foods) do it. Please read through the comments also as people are posting additional information there.
