Attention people who want our attention!

March 16, 2007

It has come to my attention that apparently some consultant orĀ other has been advising people seeking the attention of media folks, bloggers and other similar ne’er-do-wells that the way to ensure your information will get to these folks is to create a mailing list and add them without asking. This never happened to me before a couple months ago; now, it’s happening on at least a weekly basis.

If you were considering doing this, don’t.

Add the Pet Connection column and blog folks to a e-mail subscription list without asking, and I will unsubscribe faster than you can say, “Bad PR!” Then, I will relegate your e-mail address to the spam folders, a place where your future e-mail will rub elbows with pet-haters and those who sell sexual enhancement products.

I don’t care if you read somewhere that subscribing media types to your e-mail list was a cool idea. It’s not. It’s an irritating idea. Stop it. Now. I mean it.
