The Monday morning news crawl

December 4, 2006

I’m home sick today, so this’ll be my only post. I’m going to go back to bed! Dr. Marty promises a behind-the-scenes post on the making of his PBS special, “The Animal Doctor With Marty Becker,” which is showing on stations around the country this month. And Christie promises to follow up on big beds for big dogs.

Meanwhile, while I was predicting the winner (again) of a big-time dog show, over on the Dogster blog Joy was posting some important news. Check it out:

  • Pets and allergies: Despite the “raise ‘em in a bubble” mentality of many of today’s over-protective parents, yet another study is suggesting that exposure to pets actually prevents allergies. Love Joy’s take on it, too. Check it out.
  • Katrina killings: Remember the pets found killed in St. Bernard Parish after Hurricane Katrina hit? Some law enforcement officers are now facing felony charges. Check it out.

She has also posted a couple of times on the situation in China. Nice work, Joy! Do yourself a favor: Bookmark the Dogster blog. Or just click on the link we’ve provided, over on the left.
